Obituary

O’BRIEN, Joseph E., of Dedham March 6, 2012. Beloved husband of Carol J. (Phippen) O’Brien for 51 years. Devoted father of Michael E. O’Brien and his wife Diane of Loris, SC. Brother of Norfolk County Commissioner Francis W. O’Brien of Dedham and the late Dedham Fire Chief John L. O’Brien and his late sisters Mary Geary, Margaret Weir, Helen Gruberski and Catherine Spada. Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. Very dear and close friend of Renee Welby of Roslindale.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St. DEDHAM, Saturday, March 10th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 9 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Friday, March 9th from 4-8 PM. Interment Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.

Late World War II and Korean War Combat Veteran, U.S. Navy. Served 14 years in the U.S. Navy and was the recipient of many military awards. Member of the Dedham VFW Jacob Jones Post 2017, Dedham American Legion Post 18, Dedham DAV Chapter 42 and the MBTA Retirees Association. Former employee of Lamb Brothers Riggers of Hyde Park, Dedham DPW and Mail Carrier, Dedham Post Office. Retired MBTA Foreman Machinist. Member of the MBTA Machinist Union Local 264.
