Florence M. (Nunes) Howes, 91, of Fairhaven died March 5, 2012 at Royal of Fairhaven. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Irving Howes.
Born and raised in Nantucket, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary E. (Roza) Nunes, she lived in this area all of her life.
Mrs. Howes was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in New Bedford.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrews-Dahill Post 1531 Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth G. Howes of Acushnet, Robert E. Howes of Medina, Ohio, David W. Howes and his wife Brenda of New Bedford, and Victor D. Howes and his wife Donna of Apoloka, FL; two daughters, Diana I. DeFrias of Fairhaven, and Sharline E. Cruz of Valrico, FL; 15 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Millard I. Howes, Warren I. Howes and Chester Howes, the mother-in-law of the late Helen Howes and the great-grandmother of the late Millard Raymond Howes, Seasha Cruz and Lisa Howes.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 8th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SolAmor Hospice, 1256 Park Ave. Suite 104, Stoughton, MA 02072.
