Obituary

Robert E. Lynch, of Kingston, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away Sunday March 4th after a long illness, with his family by his side. He was the devoted and loving husband of Theresa A. Lynch, his best friend, with whom he enjoyed a sixty four year marriage.
Robert (Bob) was born in Boston, growing up in Mattapan, and then moving to Hyde Park after marriage. He eventually settled in Kingston, MA. He was a graduate of Hyde Park High, as well as Boston University. He also attended Boston State College, where he earned his Master’s degree. He was an educator for the Boston Public Schools, for thirty five years, retiring as an Administrator in 1990. Bob was best known for his fair and very caring, demeanor, having made a positive difference in many people’s lives. His love of life and compassion for others was evident in everything he did.
Bob was an avid gardener, and enjoyed spending as much time as he could doing yard work. He was very proud of the unique plants and trees he added to his yard. He was fastidious in keeping his yard neat, and could often be found weeding after the sun set. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1941 to 1945. He was also a lector at St. Joseph’s Church in Kingston, for several years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Di Santo, of Canton, MA, and his daughter Lori, who was always in his heart. Bob was a wonderful father to all seven of his children; his daughter Marion Palmes (Ross) and her family of West Hartford, CT, his son Mark (Agnes) and his family of Braintree, his son Peter (Sharon) and his family of Kingston, his son Jonathan (Patricia)and his family of Denver, CO. , his son Matthew (Patricia) and his family of Duxbury, and his son Luke (Cheri) and his family of Franklin. He also leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 7th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A graveside service will held on Thursday, March 8th at 11:00 AM at the Mayflower cemetery in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Robert’s name to Cranberry Hospice of 36 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth, MA 02360, would be greatly appreciated.
