Obituary

Robert D. Fletcher, 52, of Fairhaven died March 3, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Jill (Winterbottom) Fletcher.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Norman A. and Mary C. (Fenton) Fletcher, he lived in Fairhaven all of his life.
Bob was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd.
He was formerly employed as a commercial fisherman and later at Revere Copper and Brass and ZAPP until his illness.
Bob was a loving father and husband. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kendra Fletcher and Erin Fletcher, both of Fairhaven; four sisters, Norma Lucas and her husband Carl of Acushnet, Marilyn Laliberte and her husband Paul of Lakeville, Janice Martin and her husband Michael, and Kathy Wilhelmsen and her companion John Gould, all of Fairhaven; a brother, Richard Fletcher and his wife Carol of Fairhaven; his mother-in-law, Andrea Tavares of New Bedford; his father-in-law, Richard Winterbottom of Fairhaven; and his nieces and nephews, Carlton Lucas, Jr., Shelley Coelho and her husband Arne, Nicole Laliberte, Laurie LeBlanc and her husband Chris, Melissa Fletcher, Brian Fletcher and his wife Carolyn, and Kristine Wilhelmsen.
His Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 8th at 10 AM in the Church of the Good Shepherd, 357 Main St. Fairhaven. Visiting hours Wednesday, March 7th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, contributions can be made to the Fletcher Children Fund at any Rockland Trust Bank location.
