Adeline H. Fitzgibbon, 89

Adeline (Hargraves) Fitzgibbon, 89, of Norton, formerly of Norwalk, CT passed away unexpectedly on Friday March 2, 2012 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald F. “Jeff” Fitzgibbon.
Born in New York City, New York on February 27, 1923, she was a daughter of the late William and Nora (Mulrenan) Quinn.
Adeline grew up and was educated in Bronx, New York. She was wed to her late husband on Oct. 23, 1943 in St. Helena’s Church in Parkchester, New York.
She later moved to Norwalk, CT where she had made her home for 50 years prior to residing in Norton for the past 3 years. Adeline was also a graduate of Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport, CT.
For over 25 years, Mrs. Fitzgibbon had worked in the customer service department at the former Union Trust Co. in New Canaan, CT, prior to retiring.
Since living in Norton, Adeline was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and was a former longtime parishioner of St. Matthew’s Church in Norwalk. She enjoyed playing golf and for many years was a member of the Shorehaven Golf Club in Norwalk. Adeline, along with her late husband had traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad.
She was the devoted mother of Marian Rose and her husband Gerard of Chicago, Illinois, Joan F. Burt and her husband Timothy of Norton and Claire H. Fitzgibbon of Southbury, CT, and is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Paul Cella, Joseph Cella, Camille Rose, Michael Burt and Elizabeth Burt.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday March 9th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Private burial will be at a later date at St. John’s Cemetery in Norwalk, CT
Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Adeline with a donation in her memory made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, 1 Power St., Norton, MA 02766.
