Obituary

Elaine M. (Parent) Lavallee, age 79, a longtime Methuen resident, died early Friday morning, March 2, 2012, at home in Natick. She was the beloved wife of the late Theodore W. Lavallee.

Born in Lawrence on June 22, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Mary (Henabry) Parent. She was raised in Lawrence and was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School. She was then employed with the Lawrence office of New England Telephone as a supervisor for several years.

Elaine married the love of her life in 1959, and the couple settled in Methuen. She and Ted shared a special bond throughout their lives that was evident to all who knew them. They made a loving home for their daughter, Mary, and the family enjoyed boating together whenever possible. Elaine loved to fish, particularly at Lake Winnipesaukee and at other points in New Hampshire. After retirement, she and Ted traveled extensively throughout the country, and, on one memorable occasion, retraced their honeymoon trip to Bermuda.

After Ted’s death in 2005, Elaine moved from Methuen to Phillip’s Park in Wellesley where she enjoyed the company of newfound friends. In October, she moved into Mary’s home, and loved her involvement in the daily family activities. Elaine was proud of her grandson Derek and enjoyed participating in his transition from high school to college. Elaine also faithfully attended Natick High basketball games to watch her grandson Joseph compete for the Natick High School team. To honor Elaine’s brave battle with breast cancer, Joseph wore pink sneakers throughout this season.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Mary E. Carty and her husband Steve of Natick, and much loved grandsons Derek and Joseph.

Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Monday, March 5th at 8:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Linus Church, 119 Hartford Street, Natick, at 9:00a.m. Committal Services will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover at 11:00a.m.

Donations may be made in Elaine’s memory to the Vernon Cancer Center, 2014 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02462.
