New Bedford – Ernesto Oliveira, age 89 years died Friday, March 2, 2012 at home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Delores (Oliveira) Oliveira of New Bedford. Ernesto was the loved father of Joe Oliveira of Dartmouth, Zinalia Oliveira of Worcester, Margaret DeBarros of Taunton, and Grace Hall of New Bedford, brother of the late Mary Costa, Maria Jose Furtado and Julia Furtado, Manuel and Jose Oliveira . He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Oliveira was a son of the late Teolinda (Reis) and Jose Oliveira. He was born in Sao Miguel, Açores and has lived in New Bedford since 1966. He was employed as a Machine Operator at Columbia Electronics until his retirement.
Mr. Oliveira’s funeral will be Tuesday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church at 10A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
