Mary Ann (Figueiredo) Santos, 93, of New Bedford, died Tuesday February 28, 2012 at New Bedford Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antonio and Anna (Lopes) Figueiredo, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Santos was formerly employed as a stitcher for Justin Clothing.
She was a member of the St. Martin de Porres Guild and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She loved gardening and was an avid bowler.
Survivors include 3 children, Tony Esteves and his wife Kathy, and Phyllis Carter, all of New Bedford, and Eddie Esteves and his wife Debbie of Glastonbury, CT; a brother, Manuel Figueiredo and his wife Charlotte of New Bedford; her former daughter-in-law, Minda Tavares; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law Ernesto Carter and her beloved friend Roland Guay.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 47 South Sixth St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
