Stella (Jaworski) LePage, 95, died Monday, February 27, 2012, at Putnam Farm in Danvers, where she had resided for the last year. She was the wife of the late Leo LePage, who predeceased her in 1959.
Born in Salem on Feb. 21, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Wladyslawa Jaworski. She was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School, Class of 1935, and the Salem Commercial School.
Mrs. LePage worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Co. and later became a switchboard operator at the Hunt Memorial Hospital for many years before operating the switchboard at Salem Hospital for more than 25 years, retiring only eight years ago at age 87.
She loved gardening, sewing, knitting, and crocheting and was a daily communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church. Her family and friends referred to her as an inspiration to others and an example of the need to stay active and involved in later years.
She is survived by her children, Alice Hamilton and her husband William of Hopkinton and Melbourne Beach, FL, Roger LePage and his wife Minnie of Middleton, Joanne LePage of Charlestown, SC, and Paul LePage and his wife Judith of Danvers, two sisters, Isabelle Murphy and Eleanor Simpson, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte Jaworski and a brother, Edmund Jaworski.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 2, 2012, at 11 AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers.
