Mrs. Josephine Olivieri, age 92, a longtime Medford resident formerly of Somerville, passed away at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford, on February 25th, following a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Olivieri. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Philip and Celia (DiDonato) Silverio.
Mrs. Olivieri was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She cherished spending time with her family and was passionate about cooking. Nothing gave her more joy than entertaining her family and friends and preparing wonderful meals for them to enjoy. It was next to impossible to leave her home feeling hungry. Mrs. Olivieri also enjoyed shopping trips, for groceries to prepare a delicious dinner, or to get something for one of her grandchildren or great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her loving family.
Mrs. Olivieri leaves her devoted children, John J. Olivieri Jr. and his wife Linda of Plymouth, VT and Geraldine Olivieri of Medford. She was the loving grandmother of Joanne Summiel of Tewksbury, Elaine Olivieri and Jack of Medford, Trina O'Brien and her husband Sean of Wakefield. She is also survived by her loving great grandchildren, David and Devin Summiel, Sean and Joey O'Brien.
Family and friends will gather at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Thursday, March 1st, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Josephine's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
