Karl Edward Amend, Jr., 79, died on February 27, 2012 in Kindred Hospital in Peabody. He is the husband of Verna May (Foote) Amend.
Born in Danvers on Nov. 7, 1932, he was the son of the late Karl E. Amend Sr. and Mildred (Merrill) (Amend) Croft. Karl was raised and educated in Danvers, but resided much of his life in Georgetown. He was a self-employed mason for over 45 years and owned Karl E. Amend Masonry. Karl was an avid animal lover and especially loved Boxers.
He is survived by a brother, Robert Amend of Danvers and two sisters, Helen Carr and her husband Arthur of S. Carolina and Janet Sabino and her husband Roy of Topsfield, three children, Meriam Bednarczyk of Danvers, Robert Vatcher of FL and William Vatcher of Wilmington, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 11AM at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday prior to the service from 10-11AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Walnut Grove cemetery, Danvers.
