Obituary

Wayne E. Hastings, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Linden Ponds. He is predeceased by his former wife and the mother of his four children, Celina (Breault) Hastings, and his second wife Mary (O’Brien) Hastings. Wayne is survived by his dear friend of many years, Gertrude Ring of Carver, his four children, Wayne Hastings, Jr., of North Eastham, Anne Mason of Venice, Florida, David Hastings of Northbridge and Margaret Parent of Rowe, Ma., 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. Wayne was born in Greenfield, MA, graduated from Orange High School, served in the U.S. Navy, WW II and retired from the New England Tel. Co. in 1983.
He was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Presidential delegate to the National Convention in NY City in 1990, and a volunteer for So. Shore Hospital.
The Funeral Service will be held at First Church of Weymouth, 17 Church St. Weymouth on Friday March 2 at 11:00 a.m. Visiting Hours on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326 Plymouth, MA 02360.
