SPRINGFIELD – Michael N. Flynn, 58, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Thursday, January 19, 2012. He was born in Springfield on November 14, 1953, a beloved son of Charles M. and Lucille C. (Falardeau) Flynn, both of Springfield. He was raised in Springfield, lived in the city for most of his life and graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School and Cathedral High School. He furthered his education and received an Associate’s Degree from Springfield Technical Community College. He previously worked at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and was last employed as a postal clerk at the United States Post Office in Simsbury, Connecticut. During his younger years, he was a member of the Boy Scouts. While he was a student at Cathedral High School, he was a member of the drama club and acted in the play, “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Mike also loved to travel to Florida and Alaska and enjoyed surfing the net. Besides his parents, he leaves: his loving brothers and sister, Robert E. Flynn and Joan M. Linnehan and her husband, Michael, all of Springfield and John C. Flynn of Belchertown; his cherished nephew, Patrick Linnehan of Springfield; and several dear aunts, uncles and cousins. His funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, January 25, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129. His family will receive friends at the funeral home in the Chapin Chapel on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
