Obituary

CHICOPEE – Alfred J. “Al” Theriault, Jr., 57, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 14, 2012. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his wonderful caregivers from Hospice Lifecare in Holyoke. He was born in Caribou, Maine on August 1, 1954, a beloved son of the late Alfred J. Theriault, Sr., and Julie Anna (Landry) Theriault. At a young age, he moved with his parents to Holyoke where he was raised and lived for many years. In 1999, he moved to the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee. He was employed for several years at the Moody Truck Center in Ludlow and had last worked as a custodian at Friendly’s on Page Boulevard in East Springfield. He was a quiet man who adored his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves: his devoted wife and best friend of 22 years, Joan M. (Rule) Theriault; his daughters, Terri Turner of the Indian Orchard section of Springfield, and Traci L. Cadieux of Springfield; his five grandchildren, Kira Guyotte, Cortney Guyotte, Brandon Guyotte, Jonathan Cadieux and Austin Cadieux. He also leaves seven sisters, one brother; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces; and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 14 siblings. His family would like to especially thank Sherry O’Connell from Amedisys Home Health Care of Agawam, for her comforting care and support during the past few years as Al’s health continued to decline. His family will receive friends for visiting hours on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 4:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private at the convenience of his family. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
