Obituary

CHICOPEE – John N. Frasco, 84, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Thursday, January 5, 2012. He passed into Eternal Life from his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving daughters and family. He was born in Troy, New York on December 6, 1927, a beloved son of the late George and Mary (Volpe) Frasco. He was raised and schooled in New York and came to Chicopee around 1959. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and attained the rank of Seaman First Class. He later enlisted in the United States Air Force, served during the Korean War and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military service, he returned to Chicopee and was employed as a police officer for the Westover Police Department and retired with the rank of Sergeant. He enjoyed small arms target shooting and was a member of the Ludlow Sportsmen’s Club. He possessed a sound background in military aviation history, political science and a love for fine automobiles. He was predeceased by his loving son, John A. Frasco. He leaves: his loving children, Diane M. Goncalves and her husband, Dan and Rosemary A. Nadeau and her husband, Leslie, all of Chicopee and Lt. Col. Anthony N. Frasco, USMC and his wife, Kerrie of Carlsbad, CA; his 13 cherished grandchildren; his eight cherished great-grandchildren; his dear sisters, Mary Flannery of Indiana, Genevieve Stafanowicz and Rosemary Sawyer, both of New York; and his many dear nephews and nieces. A Private Committal Service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Avenue, 3rd Floor, Room 320, New York, NY 10001.
