Fairhaven- Deolinda Avila age 83 years died Sunday February 26, 2012 at Hathaway Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Deolinda was the Beloved wife of the late Gilbert Avila, Beloved mother of Brian Avila and his wife Beth of Fairhaven, and Paul Avila of Andover, MA. Deolinda was the Beloved sister of Celeste Fogaren and her husband Morris of New Bedford, and her late brothers John Britto and Antone Britto, and late sisters Albina Martin and Mary Homen. She is also survived by two grandsons, Michael and Thomas Avila, several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Avila was a daughter of the late Maria (Souza) and Joseph Britto. She was born in New Bedford and has lived in this area all her life. Deolinda worked at U.S. Ring Binder Inc. as an assembler, until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church Fairhaven. Deolinda was a member of the St. Theresa Club, Garment Workers Club and St. Mary’s Seniors of Fairhaven.
Mrs. Avila’s funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Thursday March 1, 2012 at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Joseph Church Fairhaven at 10:00 A.M. Visiting Hours are Wednesday from 4-7 P.M. Burial of cremains will be Saturday March 10th at River Side Cemetery, at her gravesite, at 9 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
