Funeral services will be held on February 27,2012 at 2:00 p.m., at Sims Funeral Home Chapel for Henry Wallace Huelett, a lifelong resident of Douglas, GA, who passed away Saturday, February 25,2012, at his home in Douglas with his family at his bedside. He was----72-------years of age. Wallace was the son of the late George Huelett and Pauline Whitley Huelett Davis He entered the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school and served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis and earned several commendations, including the National Defense Medal.
Wallace was retired from Delphi Battery Plant in Fitzgerald, GA, a division of General Motors after 25 years of service. He was of Baptist faith and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pat Altman Huelett, and his son David Ashley(Rusty) and wife Melissa. He was "Papa" to two precious grandsons, Nathanael Lee and Elisha Wallace (Eli) Huelett .
He had a special love for his nieces and nephews, several who also referred to him as "Papa"
Also three sisters-in-law, Carol Merritt Jones (Sam), Broxton, GA, Shirlee Johnston (Tommy),
Waycross, GA, Lisa Smeltzer (Bill), Green Cove Springs, FL. .A brother-in-law, Ray Merritt, preceded him in death..
The service was led by-Rev. John Dobbins of Eastside Bapt. Church and Rev. Elick Bullington of Broxton, GA. Eulogies were given by Lisa Smeltzer .sister-in-law, and Cristal Willis, niece.
