Obituary

Lawrence – Edward J. “Didi” Roy, 90, died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Bedford Hills Care & Rehabilitation Center in Bedford, NH, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Mary (Ferris) Roy.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Edward R. and Yvonne (Guilmelle) Roy.

Ed graduated from Central Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a postal clerk at the Lawrence Post Office for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Saint Patrick Parish in Lawrence, the Lawrence Elks, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the American Legion Post 122 in Methuen, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).

Ed is survived by many nephews and nieces including Thomas C. Hancock, Jr., Michael Hancock, Thomas Ferris, Kevin Fraser, Edward Fraser, Roberta Yankowsky, and Maureen Gauthier; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and long-time friend Jimmy Hajj.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at Saint Patrick Parish in Lawrence with burial to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover.

Friends will be warmly received on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St. Methuen, Ma.
