Virginia (Carmo) Almeida, age 81 of Somerset, passed away Feb. 25, 2012 with her family by her side. She was the wife of Manuel Almeida. Born in Faial de Terra, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Augusto & Virginia (Lima) Carmo. Prior to retiring in 1992, Mrs. Almeida worked for Whaling Mfg. Co. for 20 years. She was a parishioner of St. John of God Church.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Almeida is survived by her children: John Almeida of Somerset, Joe Almeida of Fall River, Julio Almeida of New Bedford, & Daniel Almeida of Somerset; siblings: Daniel Carmo of Somerset & Francisca Carreiro of Fall River; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Jose, Agostinho, & Sisfredo Carmo.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on WEDNESDAY, here at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave., Somerset. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours on TUESDAY from 4-8 P.M.
