Obituary

Warren J. Roderick 88, of North Truro, died at home on Wednesday evening February 22, 2012. He had been sick for a brief amount of time. He was the loving husband and best friend of Marjorie “Mickey” (Silva) Roderick. Born in Provincetown, he was the son of the late John and Susie (Pierce) Roderick. During WWII Mr. Roderick served in the Army as a member of the 8th. Armored Division. Following the war he became a member of the Lewis A. Young VFW Post in Provincetown. He was also a member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown.
Mr. Roderick was a mechanic by trade but most people will remember him for his generosity. As a young man he worked at Watt’s gas station on Bradford St. which was situated on the location currently occupied by Tedeschi’s. In 1949 he and his wife bought Page Brother’s garage which was located on Commercial St. and he owned that until 1960 when he bought Rod’s service station on Conwell St., retiring in 1980. From 1968 until 1998 he served as a trustee at Seamen’s Bank.
Many residents and visitors alike benefitted from his kindness and honesty. Instinctively he would always consider the least costly approach to helping his customers. His wife and family were his primary focus and source of enjoyment but when time and tide permitted, he would spend time clamming.
Besides his wife Mickey, he is survived by his son Warren J. Roderick Jr. and his wife Christine of North Truro, his 2 daughters, Marjorie Childs and her husband Leo “ Skip” of North Truro and Elaine “Rainie” Brownell and her husband Larry of North Truro, his 5 grandchildren: Heather Fair and her husband Rob, Janice Taylor and her husband Fran, Elena Rice and her husband Bobby, Stephanie Hakala and her husband Erik and Matthew Childs and his wife Heather and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Kenneth and Richard both of Eastham. He was the brother of the late James, John and Helen Roderick.
