Whitman - Lorraine A. (Purcell) Akusis 88 died Friday February 24 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late George Akusis, Sr.
Born and raised in the “Southie” section of Boston she was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Wedge) Purcell.
As a longtime resident of the Whitman community, Lorraine had been a dedicated communicant of the Holy Ghost Church.
She enjoyed bingo and shopping but her greatest joy came from the time spent with her large family.
She is survived by her loving children Neil Akusis of Weymouth, Peter Akusis of Bourne, Ann Marie Randall of Brockton, John Akusis of Rockland, William Akusis of Marshfield, Larry Akusis of Maine, Jeanne Naugler of Rockland, Clara Reno of Halifax, and Scott Akusis of N. Carolina. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late George, Stanley, and Harry Akusis and sister of the late Harry, Jr., Allan, and Dorothy Purcell, Marie Swimm and Norma Reardon.
Her services will be held Tuesday February 28 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held Monday February 27 from 4-8 PM.
