Avedissian, Akabi S. (nee) Maksoudian died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the age of 85. She was born Latakia Syria and was raised in Beirut. She later married her beloved husband Avedis (who passed away in 2007) and moved to Egypt. She was the devoted mother of Hagop Avedissian, Marie-Jeanne Shirinian and her husband Sarkis, and Sonia Kechian and her husband Rich. Loving grandmother of Stephanie, Valerie, and Richie Kechian; and Christine, Gregory, Paul and Mary Shirinian. Akabi spent many years as the caretaker of the Holy Name Hospital Convent in Teaneck. She was a longtime and dedicated parishioner of St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church in Ridgefield where she served in the Ladies Guild. She was also an active member of the Bergen County Armenian Relief Society. She lived in Washington, DC with her son prior to returning to New Jersey recently. Family and friends are invited to visit Friday 4-6 & 7-9 PM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell. Funeral service will be Saturday, 10:30 AM at Sts. Vartanantz Church. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations in her name are appreciated to Sts.
