Mrs. Eloise Parker Wood, 89, of 1215 Roberdel Road, Rockingham, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in Rockingham Manor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, in the Roberdel Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Smith and Reverend Chris Hawks officiating. Internment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
A lifelong resident of Richmond County, Mrs. Eloise was born in Rockingham on September 4, 1922 to the late Mack and Maude Williams Parker. She was a longtime and, when her health permitted, active member of Roberdel Baptist Church. She worked in textiles most of her life until her retirement from Aleo Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steele Wood, in 1993; her stepmother, Raymond Parker; both of her sons, Vernon Wood and Tony Wood; a grandson, Trenton Wood; a sister, Mary Lee Rushing; and a brother, Theodore Parker.
She is survived by four grandsons, Vernon Eugene Wood and wife Sheri, Willie Wade Wood and wife Patricia, and Matthew Elliott Wood all of Rockingham, and Anthony Brandon Wood and wife Leahanna of Valdosta, GA; two granddaughters, Michelle Wood Brown and husband Stephen of Hamlet, Melissa Wood Talley and husband Larry of Rockingham; a brother, Billy Ray Jameson of Raleigh; and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8:00 PM at Roberdel Baptist Church and other times at 1215 Roberdel Road, Rockingham.
