New Bedford – Gilbert Arruda Jr., age 70 years, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Bedford Village Nursing Home. Gilbert was the loved father of Daughter Rosemary Cardoso wife of Herve of New Bedford, Donna Frates Monteiro, wife of Jean DePina, Kevin, Allen, and Rhonda. Loved brother of the lateWilliam Arruda. Mr. Arruda is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Jessica Frates, Marcus Monteiro, Alyssa Frates, Mariah Alves and Herve De Pina Jr. a great granddaughter: Dae-Ani Santos-Frates and a niece and three nephews.
Mr. Arruda was a son of the late Gilbert Arruda Sr. and Mary (Tavares) Arruda, He was born in New Bedford and has lived in this area all of his life. He was employed as a fish cutter and had worked for Tavares Mover’s until his retirement.
Mr. Arruda’s funeral will be Saturday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 prior to the Mass.
In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers donations to the family would be greatly appreciated.
