Thelma O. Newman, 91, of Manchester, NH, died Tuesday February 21, 2012 in Mapleleaf Healthcare in Manchester. She was born in Nova Scotia, Canada on August 11, 1920, a daughter of the late James and Ethel (Dunn) Spencer. Thelma had been a resident of Manchester for many years, formerly living in Derry, NH.
She is survived by two sons, James Newman of Lawrence, MA, and John Newman of Epping, NH; one daughter, Carol Nyberg of Manchester; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; as well as several great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Newman in 1979, and her son, William J. Newman in 2010.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, February 23rd from 6 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A graveside service was Friday at 10:00am in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry Road, East Derry. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01710.
