John E. Watson, age 65, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at his home in West Point, MS. He was born January 8, 1947 in Water Valley, MS to the late John Dart and Edna Pearl Watson. John attended Camp Ground Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS and Everlasting Covenant Church in West Point, MS. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and working in his yard. John especially loved woodworking, cabinetry and spending time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 24, 2012 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Zane Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Joshua Guest, Steve Cochran, Jon Dendy, Chris Dendy, Patrick Peacock and Dan Murrell serving as pallbearers.
John is survived by his wife, Jeanette Watson of West Point, MS; his daughter, Katie Watson of Water Valley, MS; two step-daughters, Lisa Thomas of Water Valley, MS and Heather Guest (Josh) of Goodman, MS; a step-son, Chris Weaver of Starkville, MS; two sisters, Judy Watson of Water Valley, MS and Peggy Dendy (Jerry) of Cabot, AR; six grandchildren, Mikey Watson, Daniel Peterson, Justin Thomas, Kayla Thomas, Gracie Guest and Caleb Guest; and one great-grandchild, Amelia Thomas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Watson and his sister, Linda Pearl Watson.
