Obituary

Norma T. (Tyson) Williams, 85, of New Bedford died Monday February 20, 2012 at home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of John Williams, Nathaniel Cromer, Sr., and Ike Artis.

Born in Covington, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Melvina (Lawrence) and Edward Irving Tyson, she lived in Asheville, NC, prior to moving to New Bedford 16 years ago.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses for 47 years. Her greatest love was going door to door teaching about God's word, the Bible.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley M. Simmons, and her husband Antone, Jr., of New Bedford; her brother, Calvin Tyson and his wife Elaine of Illinois; her sister-in-law, Helen Tyson of Texas; three grandchildren, Marlena Delaney and her husband Kevin, and Alyson Simmons, all of Weymouth, and Ashlee Simmons of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Nathaniel Cromer, Jr. and Oletha Jefferson, and sister of the late Edward Irving Tyson, Jr., Robert Fields, Deola Gomiller, Sarah Gallo, Albertine Jenkins, Isabella Baptiste, and Lucille Henry.

Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 25, 2012 at 3 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 742 County St., New Bedford. Visiting hours are omitted. For online guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
