Obituary

Worcester - Arthur F. Vitaris, 87, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Notre Dame Long Term Care Facility in Worcester. He was predeceased by his wife of over 58 years, Gloria (Bennett) Vitaris in 2009. Arthur leaves two sons, Ronald F. Vitaris and his wife Robin of Worcester and Kevin J. Vitaris and his long-time companion Lori Houle of Rutland; a brother Melvin Vitaris of Worcester; and a beloved granddaughter, Bethany A. Vitaris of CT. Arthur was born in Palmer, MA, son of Sarah (McCullom) and Arthur Vitaris. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was a Worcester Firefighter for 27 years before his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed wrought-iron work, fishing, and cabinet-making. Art belonged to the Worcester Firefighters Assoc.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street on Friday, Feb. 24, from 4-7 pm. The service will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 10 am. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
