Obituary

Liane L. (Lang) Laverty, 73, of Dartmouth died Monday February 20, 2012 peacefully at home after a long illness. She was the wife of John K. Laverty, M.D.

Born in Waltham, the daughter of late Walter J. and Adele F. (Bailow) Lang, she lived in Quincy before moving to Dartmouth in 1969. She summered in Falmouth for many years.

She was a communicant St. Julie Billiart Church, where she was a member of the church choir.

Mrs. Laverty was formerly employed as the head operating room nurse at Carney Hospital in Dorchester. She also volunteered at the Dartmouth High School Library.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Karen Laverty of Cambridge and Deborah Laverty and her husband Christopher Fortune of Grand Rapids, Michigan; her beloved grandson, Alexander Fortune; her siblings, Walter Lang of Virginia, R. Timothy Lang of Florida, William J. Lang, Richard B. Lang, and Mary L. Sellers, all of Massachusetts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
