Obituary

Everett R. Kennedy, of Wellesley, beloved husband of Jean (Smith) Kennedy for 67 years, passed away on February 19, 2012. He is survived by 3 children, Susan Kennedy and Douglas Kennedy of Wellesley, MA and Leslie Natoli and her husband Lawrence of Bluffton, SC. Everett was pre-deceased by one brother, Donald R. Kennedy. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Teresa Kiger of Bellbrook, OH and Suzanne Natoli of Hilton Head Island, SC; three great-grandchildren, Jordon, Noah, and Grace; along with numerous other relatives.
Everett was a bomber pilot in World War II and flew 35 combat missions over Germany including 2 missions over Normandy on D-Day, 1944.
After WWII, he attended the University of Connecticut, graduating with a degree in engineering. He was a former director of public works in West Hartford, CT, Wellesley, MA, and Cambridge, MA. He was chosen one of the top ten Directors of Public Works in the nation in 1971. Everett was a member of the 100th Bomb Group Organization, the American Public Works Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and a member of the Wellesley Lodge of the Grand Lodge of Masons.
The Kennedy family will receive visitors in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 4-6 PM followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Everett’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 25 Shawmut Rd. Canton, MA 02021 or to a charity of one’s own choice.
