Willene “Sue” Henderson Norton, 83, of Adel (Formerly of Irwin County) died Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Memorial Convalescent Center in Adel.
Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, February 22 at Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. John Gibbs and the Rev. Virgil Vickers officiating. Connie N. Gibbs will give the eulogy. Visitation will be held 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla. Pallbearers are: Austin Norton, Aaron Gibbs, Tyler Norton, Chris Wilkerson, Dacey Gibbs, Eddie Giddens and Bruce Giddens.
Mrs. Norton was born August 28, 1928 in Irwin County to the late Eddie Lee and Connie Lee Tanner Henderson. She lived in Irwin County most of her life, graduating from Ocilla High School in 1945, and was a former resident of Douglas and Thomasville. Mrs. Norton was retired bookkeeper for the Irwin County Elementary School. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Connie Norton & Keith Gibbs of Tallahassee, FL; son and daughter-in-law Carey & Kay Norton of Sparks; six grandchildren, Leia (Chris) Wilkerson, Aaron Gibbs, Austin Norton, Tyler Norton, Dacey Gibbs and Amanda Turner; two great grandchildren, Savannah Turner and Eli Turner; sisters, Edith Giddens of Ocilla and Jane (Jerry) Coley of Tifton. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bascom Norton, brother, Rev. J.B. Henderson and a sister, Helen Clark.
