WEBSTER – Irene A. “Mimi” (Laliberte) Zajac, 76, of Webster, died Friday, February 17, 2012 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge, after a brief illness.
She leaves a son, John E. Zajac and his wife Jill A. Zajac of Westport; 2 grandchildren, Lauren M. Zajac and Ryan Zajac; 5 step grandchildren, Cory Carmichael, Colton Carmichael, Kelly Carmichael, Shane Fleury and Sierra Fleury; a sister, Pauline Kekelik of Southbridge; a niece, Christine Davidson; a nephew, Robert Konkel; and grandnieces and grandnephews. Her former husband, Robert D. Zajac, died in 1999.
She was born and raised in Southbridge, the elder daughter of Edward and Lumina (Renaud) Laliberte. She moved to Webster many years ago. She graduated from Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge.
Mrs. Zajac was an inspector in the quality control department at Webster Lens for many years before retiring. She then was a part-time home health aide for a few years.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church where she served as a lector and as a Eucharistic minister. She was a weekly adorer at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Her two loves in life were her family and her church.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, February 21, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 Monday, February 20, in the funeral home.
