Kwiatkowski, Alice (Remick) of Dedham, 85, died on February 16, 2012 from complications of lung cancer. Alice was born January 24, 1926 in Boston. As the daughter of the late John & Annie (Hremack) Remick, who came to this country from Ukraine in the early part of the 20th century, she grew up in the Roxbury section of Boston. She often talked of her times at “Girls High” and her first job at Sears Robuck with her life-long girlfriend Jerry Cantwell, who passed just months before of the same illness. She then worked at Natick Mills making drapes before venturing out on her own making drapes from her home. Alice met then married Edward Kwiatkowski on Mother’s Day 1948 and they enjoyed many great times together with family, friends and neighbors, including 12 cruises and summers in Plymouth and Wareham. She was also very active with St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Forest Hills. Alice lived life on her own terms and remained fiercely independent almost to the end. Her favorite saying, and the way she ended every conversation for the last several years, was “She-budde she-budde”, a made-up Americanized version of a Ukrainian phrase which meant “What’s gonna be is gonna be.” Alice was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Edward, and two brothers, Michael & Paul Remick. She is survived by son, John and his long-time companion Gina Schone, daughter Janet Bourne and her husband Stephen, grandson, Joshua Kwiatkowski, great-granddaughter, Alexis Kwiatkowski, sister Marion Musial and her husband George, several cousins, nieces and nephews, and too many friends to mention. Visiting hours will be held at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home, 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Tuesday, February 21 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A Requiem Service will be held at St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church 24 Orchard Hill Rd. Jamaica Plain on Wednesday February 22 at 10:30 AM. Interment mt.
