Obituary

HAVERTY- Of Melrose, formerly of Brighton, Joseph J. at 88 years of age. He was the husband of Agnes (Masel) Haverty. The loving son of the late Martin and Catherine (Lane) Haverty. The loving brother of the late Helen Haverty, Mary Dayton, Irene Smith, Lucy Winkler and Ann Eldredge. Joseph is lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
Raised in Brghton and a resident of melrose for 41 years, Joseph passed away at the Whidden Hospital Tuesday afternoon. A graduate of Boston University School of Business, a member of Patton's 3rd Army, a Boston School teacher and an enrolled Internal Revenue Agent. After retiring, he worked for the City of Melrose in the Office of Public Works.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral from the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, Chelsea on Friday, february 17th at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Stanislaus Church, 163 Chestnut Street, Chelsea at 10 o'clock. Services will conclude with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Expressions of sympathy in Joseph's name may be made to the Mass Citizens for Life, Schrafft Center, Suite 1M9, 529 Main Street, Charlestown, MA 02129.
