Rose M. Reader, of Woburn formerly of Somerville passed away peacefully on February 11th at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Facility at the age of 87, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Andrew Reader. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Crucifica (LaPiana) Marino.
Rose worked as a clerk for many years with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue prior to her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with her family and friends, and attending church. Before her late husband's death, together they enjoyed traveling on many vacations and they also loved to go out with friends on Saturday nights dancing. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Rose is predeceased by two daughters, the late Janet Toomey and Cecile McCormick.
She is survived by her daughter Eileen Castelli and her husband Stephen of Burlington. Grandchildren, Jennifer Scali, Robin Redman, John and Jay McCormick, Andrea Valerio, Jeneane Tzovaras and Stephen Castelli. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren and her sister, Josephine DiJulia of Somerville.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, February 16th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
