Bess “Virginia” Nation Vickers, 83, of Omega died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Omega Baptist Church. Rev. Herman Walker and Rev. Terry Smith will officiate with burial to follow in Omega Cemetery. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mrs. Vickers' Sunday school class at Omega Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Vickers will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Vickers was born on October 17, 1928 in Iron City and was the daughter of Dewey Cheley Nation and Bessie Patrick Nation, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by two sisters. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Omega Baptist Church.
Mrs. Vickers is survived by her husband, Ray Vickers of Omega; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Rodney Stephens of Suwannee; two brothers, Bobby Nation of Dawson and Gerald Nation of Moultrie; and two grandchildren, Parker Vickers Stephens and Elizabeth Paige Stephens.
