ROCKPORT: Michael P. Ryan, 64, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington following an extended illness.
Born in Gloucester on June 17, 1947, he was the son of the late Richard P. and Mary M. (Marr) Ryan. A lifelong resident of Rockport, he was a graduate of Rockport High School class of 1965 and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
Michael had worked as a commercial banker in Boston for many years. He also enjoyed working with the grounds crew and spending time at the Rockport Golf Club. He loved living near the ocean, boating and especially the time spent with his family. Michael also loved his Irish heritage. “May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. May the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, May the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand.”
He is survived by his daughter, Heather C. Ryan of San Diego, CA; his son, Todd M. Ryan of El Paso, TX; a brother, Kenneth and his wife, Anne Ryan; a sister, Patricia Noyes and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Richard and Timothy Ryan.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family.
