Sam G. Thompson, 86, of Clarksville, TN, died on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his residence. He was born on January 2, 1926 in Fosterville, TN to the late Samuel G. Thompson, Sr. and Addie E. Dalton Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Katherine T. Thompson.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 2 PM at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Felts Dent officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 13, 2012 from 5-7 PM and Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 1 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Sam was Director of Purchasing for the State of Tennessee. He was also manager of Harvey's Department Store for 20 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son, Sammy Thompson of Atlanta, GA; a daughter, Jennifer Fields of Erwin, TN; four grandchildren, Emily Thompson, Carolina Fields, Johnathan Fields, and David Fields; and special friends, Dr. David and Paula Gullett.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
