Obituary

Theresa D. Therrien, 84, of Victory Highway, North Smithfield, died peacefully Monday, February 6, 2012 at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Joseph O. and Mabel L. (Laforest) Trudel. She was raised in Woonsocket and resided in North Smithfield for over 60 years.
In her early years, Mrs. Therrien was employed in the local textile industry at several firms including the French Worsted Mill. She later worked as a school bus driver for the North Smithfield Public Schools. She was a pioneer as she became one of the area’s first female heavy truck drivers.
Among Theresa’s hobbies were cooking, gardening, reading and puzzle books.
Theresa will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, her family was the center of her life.
She is survived by two daughters, Mala Vadnais, and her husband Wilfred, of North Smithfield, and Janet Billington of Pawtucket. She was the mother of the late Marc Billington and John Billington. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Damien Vadnais, Aislinn Vadnais, Francis Billington, Samantha Billington, and Sara Billington.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday February 24, 2012 at 10:00 am in St. John’s Church, Church St., Slatersville. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Because He Lives Ministries. Arrangements are by the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket.
