Obituary

Augusta, GA – Mr. Lonnie T. Wilder, 92, beloved husband of Ruth Anderson Wilder for 66 years, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at University Hospital.
The youngest of seven children, Lonnie was born on October 6, 1919 to Larkin Ashley Wilder and Ivey Ella Wall Wilder of Clayton, NC. He served during World War II in the Army Medical Supply Corps and retired from Civil Service in 1974 after 30 years as Director of Services at Fort Gordon. For 65 years, he was a member of The Hill Baptist Church and a member of the Hart-Youngblood Sunday School Class. Lonnie was the self-appointed Mayor of Cardinal Drive where he and Ruth lived since 1957. An avid hunter and fisherman, as recently as last month, hunted deer from his tree stand in the Burke County woods.
Family members in addition to his wife include: two daughters, Patricia Bradley (Sam) of Augusta and Nancy Vasquez (Jaime) of Brentwood, TN; son, Gary Wilder (Laurie) of LaGrange, GA; four granddaughters, Tricia Schmidt (Steve), Mary Catherine Wilder, Elena Vasquez and Ashley Wilder; four grandsons, Milledge Peterson (Joanne), Andy Vasquez, Thomas Wilder and Charlie Wilder and five great grandchildren, Caroline, Julia and Sarah Schmidt; and Sam and Kate Peterson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 2:00 pm in Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Fred Gunter officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Simkins, Jay Harper, Jimmy McLeod, Dr. Harold Nelson, Josh Pinson and Bill Munn.
