Gunda (Schornhäuser) Andrade, 77, of Fairhaven died Friday February 10, 2012 at Brigham and Women's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Robert A. Andrade.
Born in Mannheim, Germany, the daughter of the late Adolph and Anna (Vetterolf) Schornhäuser, she lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven for most of her life.
Mrs. Andrade was formerly employed as a police matron for the New Bedford Police Department for 20 years until her retirement.
She was extremely devoted to her family. She was an excellent cook and baker. She was a dedicated foster mother for numerous children throughout the years.
Survivors include her husband; her children, Richard Andrade and his wife Louann of New Bedford, Hartmut Andrade and his wife René, and Robert Andrade, Jr. and his wife Louanne, all of Dartmouth, Debra Ann Cromwell of New Bedford, and Erik Andrade of Dartmouth; a brother, Hans Schornhäuser of Mannheim; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
