Obituary

Mrs. Rita Helen (Lydon) Nicoli, a resident of Medford for more than 36 years and beloved wife of the late John M. Nicoli, died at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on Wednesday morning, February 7, 2012. She was 88 years old.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on November 23, 1923, she was the beloved daughter of the late John T. and Jennie (Bennett) Lydon. Mrs. Nicoli worked in dining services for Tufts for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed reading. Known as “Nana” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they fondly remember her wonderful cooking, especially her meatballs and stuffing. Above all, Rita was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be very sorely missed by her loving children; Sandra A. and her husband Gerald L. Banks of Medford, John J. and his partner Steve Sullivan of Palm Springs, California and Warren R. and his husband Fred Huntwork of Hull, sister; Lorraine R. Lydon of Medford, grandchildren; Dawn, Mark, Allyson and Carolyn, great-grandchildren; Nick and Jake and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John T. Lydon and Mary T. Nary.
Her funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 514 High Street, Medford at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Visiting hours were held on Friday, February 10, 2012, 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
