Phyllis I. Viau, 82, formerly of Magnum Court, died Thursday at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of Paul Viau and the late Arthur Cote.
Born in Attleboro, MA, she was the youngest of eleven children of the late William and Alice (Jenckes) Barr.
She was a founding member of the Smithfield Red Hat Society and had served as a Queen. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed photography and was an avid Red Sox fan.
She is survived by her children: Michael E. Cote and his wife, Cynthia of Smithfield, Claire M. Cote, of Johnston, Brian J. Cote and his wife, Kathy of Pawtucket, her six grandchildren: Matthew, Gregory Benjamin and Jeffrey Cote, Amanda Pietros, and Ashley Mastrostefano and two great grandsons, and her only sibling: Barbara Munroe of Florida. She was the mother of the late Alan J. Cote.
Funeral Saturday at 9:00 AM from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial private. Visitation Saturday 8:00-9:00AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
