The Rev. Warren Taylor Ernest, age 79, died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London.
Warren was born in Holbrook, MA on January 17, 1933, a son of Wentworth and Gertrude Ernest. He had a brother, Richard (deceased), and has a sister, Jean Carol Collins who lives in Brockton, MA.
He was married to Marilynn J. Ernest June 6, 1953. They have two sons: Michael and Timothy. Michael, who is married to Nancy, lives in Sterling, CT. He has two children: Sarah Jerger, who lives in Burlington VT with her husband Jay; and David, who lives in Scotsdale, AZ. Timothy, Pleasant Valley, NY, is married to Joanne, and they have two sons: David and Andrew.
Warren was ordained an Episcopal Priest in the Diocese of Dallas on December 21, 1957. He served churches in Denison, Texas, Henrietta, Tex., Ft. Worth, Tex. and in Arizona. From 1973 to 1998, he was the Rector of St. Luke’s Church in Eastchester, NY. When he retired in 1998, after 25 years as Rector of St. Luke’s, he and his wife Marilynn moved to CT where they lived in Mystic and then Groton. They were active and happy members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Mystic.
After cremation, there will be a Funeral Mass at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Saturday, February 18 at 11:00am, followed by a reception in the parish hall. His remains will be interred in St. Mark’s Memorial Garden.
