Irondine (Silvia) Rosa, 87, passed away peacefully following a period of declining health on February 7, 2012, at Somerset Ridge. Dina was a lifelong resident of Fall River. She was the wife of the late Raymond Rosa to whom she was wed for over 60 years. She was the daughter of the late Adrian and Maria (Craveiro) Silvia.
During her early years, she worked as a seamstress in local Fall River sewing shops. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a Sunday School Teacher for many years.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she devoted her whole life to caring for her family.
Her survivors include her daughter, Linda Bayliss and her husband Michael of Somerset, a son Gary A. Rosa and his wife Janice of Fairhaven. She leaves six grandchildren, Michael Rosa, Allyson Bocchieri, Sarah Bayliss, Garrett and Kimberly Rosa, Valeyra Inoa and two great grandchildren Olivia Katherine and Alexander Raymond Bocchieri. Additional survivors include two sisters, Joan Zdon of Pennsylvania and Barbara Bergold of Marion, MA. She was the mother of the late Rev. Raymond Rosa and sister to the late Edith Michael, Ernestine Silvia and Nelson Silvia. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Dina’s family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Pottersville Unit of Somerset Ridge. Their professional and humane caring of Dina was extraordinary in every respect. Their gentle caring constant attentiveness and kindness will always be treasured and remembered.
Her funeral and burial were private in accordance with her wishes. In lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Dina’s name.
