Frances Louise Wied, age 62, of La Grange, died Tuesday February 7, 2012, at 1:12 PM, at Christopher House in Austin.
Frances was born February 15, 1949 in Fayette Memorial Hospital in La Grange, the daughter of Henry Wied, Jr. and Erna (Stahmer) Wied.
She was baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church, Rutersville. She came to know Christ at an early age and this upbringing helped her when she began teaching the nursery class of St. John Luthern Sunday School for over 30 years. She was a self-taught piano and organ musician and played for the Lord in Sunday school and church for over 25 years. She was an active member in the Luther League, WELCA, and was one of the organizers of the St. John Women’s Night Circle which remained active for a long time.
She attended La Grange Elementary and La Grange High School. She was a member of the Leopard Band, playing the drums.
She retired from the City of La Grange as the City’s Finance Director and worked there over 41 years. She began at the city at the bottom of the totem pole and worked herself up to achieve the retirement position.
Frances is survived by one sister; Aileen Loehr and husband Lloyd (Bucky) Loehr of La Grange; one niece, May Johnson and husband Brad of Austin; one nephew, Tobias (Toby) Loehr and wife Jennifer of New Braunfels and three great-nephews, Brandon Loehr, 7, Joshua Loehr, 3, and Reed Bradley Johnson, age 4 months.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday February 9, 2012, from 8:00 AM, until 8:00 PM, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday February 10, 2012, at 10:00 AM, at St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville.
Interment will follow in the Rutersville Cemetery.
