...Matriarch of well-known Tewksbury family
TEWKSBURY - Jeanette E. (Aubut) McCusker, R.N., age 89, died peacefully Monday afternoon, February 6, at her home, surrounded by her beloved family, following a long period of declining health. She was the wife of Francis William "Frank" McCusker, who died on August 24, 2004, with who she had celebrated 60 years of marriage.
She was born in Lowell on December 29, 1922, one of seven children of the late Joseph T. and M. Agnes (Plourde) Aubut. Jeanette graduated from the Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing obtaining her L.P.N. She also graduated from Northern Essex where she earned her degree in Science and her R.N. Jeanette retired from Tewksbury Hospital as a supervisor after 33 years of dedicated service.
She was a lifelong communicant of St. William's Church, and was a member of the Church Choir and the Tewksbury Interfaith Choir. She traveled to Tewkesbury, England with the Interfaith Choir to participate in the Twinning Interfaith Concert held at the Tewkesbury Abbey Catherdral. She enjoyed trips to Rome, England and Ireland with Frank, and with her sister Lorraine, daughter Maureen and neices Pat Miller and Donna Lapointe was able to visit the grave site of her brother William G. Aubut killed in WWII and buried in Margreten Cemetery. She also traveled to Bosnia with family members to the religious site of Medjugorie.
Jeanette was a lifelong member of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate Friendship club and held membership in the Poor Clare Guild. She also was a member of AFSCME Union.
She is survived by five children, Janeen and her husband Chuck Tibbetts of Tewksbury, Francis W. McCusker Jr. of Tewksbury, Maureen and her husband Thomas Nagle of Hudson, NH, John McCusker of Lowell, and James McCusker of Tewksbury; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Edward McCusker, Patrick Michael McCusker, Jennifer (Nagle) Marzolini, R.N. and her husband Carl, Adam Nagle and his wife Michelle, Laura Beth Nagle, Emily Nagle and her partner Gary Wells, and Dr. William Tibbetts and his wife Margo; thirteen great grandchildren, Liam C. Tibbetts, Mary Clare Tibbetts, Francis Martin Tibbetts, Joseph Patrick Tibbetts, Sarah Rose Tibbetts, Julia Bella Marzolini, Jonathan Thomas Nagle, Adam Nagle Jr., Andrew Nagle, Ava Grace Wells, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Connell, Brenden Salerno, Melissa Salerno; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by daughter-in-law Katherine (Johnson) McCusker, her sisters, Marcelle Egan and Lorraine Whitten, brothers, Joseph Aubut, William G. Aubut, Robert Aubut, and Edmund Aubut; brother-in-law, John E.McCusker, and sisters-in-law, Marguerite "Peg" Penney and Mary Mikalopus.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, Feb. 10, . in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the O.M.I. Retirement Home, 486 Chandler St. Tewksbury 01876, or the Friends of Tewksbury Hospital, c/o Administration, 365 East St., Tewksbury, MA 01876, will be deeply appreciated.
