Obituary

Evans, GA – Ollie Mae Nimmons, 90, wife of the late Irvin E. Nimmons, entered into rest on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta, GA.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Emmitt Tip Carroll officiating.

Ollie Mae was a proud WWII veteran and served in the United States Navy, Pacific Fleet Records office, in San Francisco, CA. One of her major accomplishments was when she stood in review of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in New York, NY. Ollie Mae was a member of Central Christian Church in Augusta and a charter member of the Sewing Circle Club in Augusta for 50 years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center and was well known for her generosity. She loved her family and her church dearly. Ollie Mae enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna N. Rushing and husband Jimmy of Evans, one son, Merritt L. Nimmons of Columbia, SC, one sister, Maxine Spires and husband Darrel of Augusta, three grandchildren, James W. Rushing III and wife Jennifer of Evans, Chandler R. Schofield and husband Paul of Ellaville, GA, and Tory L. Rushing of San Diego, CA U.S. Navy.

Pallbearers will be James Rushing, Tory Rushing, Frank Thomas, Larry Fox, Lance Poss, and Jack McCoy.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the Georgia War Veterans Home 3rd floor, Nancy Powell, and Dr. Adam Hoover for all of the care and support they have provided.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Central Christian Church Youth Program, 220 Crawford Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.
