Gloria C. (Roberge) (Ellis) O’Donnell, 86, of Manchester died January 30, 2012 at Maple Leaf Healthcare Center after a period of declining health.
She was born in St. Johnsbury, VT on October 12, 1925 to Alcide and Cora (Hetu) Roberge. She lived in Brattleboro, VT and Manchester for many years.
After raising her six children, she worked for Montgomery Ward, AT&T, Brooks Pharmacy, and New Hampshire Child and Family Services as a homemaker.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Cathedral where she taught CCD and sang in the choir for 15 years. She was a member of the Allemande Eights Square Dance Club and was active with the Manchester Independent Baseball League.
She enjoyed yard sales, attending shows at the Palace Theater, golfing at the Londonderry Country Club, and doing recorded interviews on cassettes.
Her first husband, Charles F. Ellis, died in 1989, and her second husband, Thomas O’Donnell, died in 2009.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
The family includes six children, Steven R. Ellis and his wife, Paula, of Hampton, Linda M. Fiore and her husband, Robert, of Randolph, MA, Kathleen Sheehan and her husband, Keith, of Portsmouth, David M. Ellis of Otisfield, ME, Brian F. Ellis and his wife, Chris, of South Portland, ME and Trish M. Ellis of Manchester; a close family friend, Rose Ruggiero of Manchester; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; a sister, Lorraine Hayer of Greenfield, MA; a sister in law, Ethel Bergeron of Keene; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at St. Joseph Cathedral, corner of Pine and Lowell streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
