Donald W. Thompson, 84, of Westcott Road, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Roger Williams Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Droz) Thompson.
Born in Newport, he was a son of the late Robert and Emma (Bancroft) Thompson. He had been a resident of Scituate since 1968.
He was a WWII Navy veteran, a coach for Scituate Little league and the North Scituate Rainbow Girls. He was an avid golfer and a Barbershop Quartet singer.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: Mark D. Thompson and his wife, Jennifer of Burrillville, Judith L. Sparn and her husband, Alan of Madison, CT, and Glenn S. Thompson and his wife, Diana of Foxboro, MA, his grandchildren: Kelsey and Aaron Sparn, Kyle Genereux, Micaela, Emily, Amanda and Eric Thompson. He was the brother of the late Robert D. Thompson.
His funeral service will be held Friday at 9am in Trinity Episcopal Church, 251 Danielson Pike, Scituate. Burial private. Visitation Thursday 4-7pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
